During December 2024, Eubnara focused on enhancing the apache/hadoop repository by addressing a critical issue in HDFS balancing for NodeGroup-based deployments. Eubnara fixed a bug that prevented the HDFS Balancer from running with BlockPlacementPolicyWithNodeGroup, ensuring BlockPlacementPolicies were correctly initialized with the NetworkTopology instance. This technical approach improved operational stability and reliability for distributed systems using node-group aware block placement. Eubnara also contributed a dedicated test case to validate balancer behavior in these scenarios, demonstrating skills in Java, HDFS internals, and test-driven development. The work reflected a deep understanding of distributed storage and robust testing practices.
