During August 2025, F. MacConnell focused on enhancing security for the bcgov/nr-nmp repository by addressing the handling of sensitive configuration data in the SSO integration. He implemented a change to treat the SSO authentication server URL environment variable as a secret, updating deployment configurations to prevent accidental exposure in logs or non-secret environment variables. This work leveraged his expertise in CI/CD, DevOps, and security practices, with changes primarily made in YAML configuration files. The update reduced the risk of sensitive data leakage and aligned the deployment process with best practices for secret management, reflecting a targeted and thoughtful engineering approach.
