Worked on the NousResearch/hermes-agent repository, focusing on improving the reliability of the update-check banner within the CLI tool. Addressed a bug where the banner inaccurately reported the installation as outdated by refining the logic to prioritize the running code’s location over profile-scoped paths when resolving the active Git checkout. This adjustment ensures that the banner accurately reflects the live installation status, reducing user confusion and erroneous prompts. The work involved Python scripting, Git-based path resolution, and careful debugging of repository state. Delivered the fix with clean commit history and updated documentation, demonstrating attention to maintainability and operational clarity.
