Developed and delivered the S3 Event Ingestion Audit Logging feature for the vectordotdev/vector repository, focusing on enhancing the aws_s3 source. This work introduced detailed logging for each processed S3 object, capturing delivery status and specific error information for acknowledgements to improve observability and debugging. Leveraging Rust for backend development and integrating AWS cloud services, the implementation provided granular audit trails that support data lineage and reliability in S3 event ingestion pipelines. The approach emphasized robust logging instrumentation and observability, reducing diagnostic time and laying groundwork for future scalability, while maintaining a release-focused workflow throughout the development process.
