Over a two-month period, contributed to google/benchmark, google/adk-js, and openai/openai-node by delivering three features focused on developer experience, reliability, and real-time communication. Enhanced the benchmark_min_time CLI documentation in google/benchmark to clarify usage and reduce misconfigurations, and implemented native addon dependency support in google/adk-js’s Agent Loader, improving deployment reliability through better temp directory handling and expanded test coverage. In openai/openai-node, added sideband Call ID support to the Realtime WebSocket API, enforcing stricter input validation and enabling more flexible connection configurations. Work was completed using TypeScript, Node.js, and JavaScript, with an emphasis on testing and documentation.
June 2026: Delivered a major Realtime WebSocket enhancement for openai/openai-node by adding sideband Call ID support. Implemented sideband call_id connections and strengthened error handling to require either a model or a callID (not both). Updated the connection configuration to support both standard and sideband connections, improving flexibility for integration and deployment. The work is recorded in commit 4fd59e1be4ad478373cdcb4f185109af29067da8 (feat(realtime): support sideband call_id connections), co-authored by Hayden. This update reduces misconfigurations, enables richer real-time workflows, and enhances overall reliability.
