Worked on core reliability improvements for the supabase/VictoriaMetrics project, focusing on the accurate handling of OpenTelemetry tracing data within distributed log processing. Addressed a critical bug by correcting the encoding of trace and span IDs, ensuring they are represented as hexadecimal strings when transmitted from the OpenTelemetry Collector to Victoria Logs. This change, implemented in Go, enhanced the integrity and observability of trace data by reducing decoding errors and mismatches during Protobuf parsing. The update contributed to more reliable analytics across services, leveraging expertise in bug fixing, OpenTelemetry protocols, and log management systems to improve distributed tracing workflows.
