During April 2025, Gabe Hesse developed a targeted user interface feature for the twangodev/uw-coursemap repository, focusing on increasing project visibility and community engagement. He implemented a GitHub Redirect and Star call-to-action within the Announcement Component using Svelte and HTML, updating both the link destination and copy to encourage users to star the project on GitHub. This change aligned user interactions with the project’s open-source adoption goals by directing attention away from Rate My Professors and toward the repository itself. The work demonstrated a focused application of frontend development skills, delivering a single, well-scoped feature with clear business impact.
