During a two-month period, Fran Carro delivered comprehensive Spanish localization across multiple open-source repositories, including OsmAnd-iOS, Collabora Online, and Grist Core. He focused on end-to-end translation of UI strings, error messages, and documentation, using technologies such as PO files, YAML, and Java. Fran standardized internationalization workflows by updating translation metadata and ensuring consistency in language codes and translator information. His work enabled full Spanish coverage in Grist Core and Collabora Online, improved accessibility in Ubuntu Desktop Provision, and maintained translation quality across projects. This approach reduced localization gaps and established a maintainable, organization-wide process for ongoing translation efforts.
