Gamze contributed to the iiasa/message-ix-models repository by developing four features over two months, focusing on scenario analysis and data modeling for energy and materials planning. She implemented SSP-specific enhancements for material capacity and cost modeling, introducing granular differentiation for steel, cement, and aluminum using Python and Excel. Her work included updating CSV and YAML configuration files to support new scenario logic, as well as improving recycling data coverage for steel and aluminum. By refining data management workflows and integrating SSP-based diffusion scaling, Gamze enabled more accurate long-term forecasting and scenario comparison, demonstrating depth in configuration management and technical implementation.

In November 2024, delivered two high-impact features for iiasa/message-ix-models that bolster scenario fidelity and diffusion modeling, enabling more reliable planning and investment decisions. Implemented Energy Cost Reduction Scenario Updates across solar_res, meth_coal, meth_coal_ccs, and nuc_hc, updating cost_reduction.csv and scenarios_reduction.csv to reflect new 'high' scenario values. Introduced SSP-based diffusion scaling for steel, updating data pointers and adding SCALER logic that affects initial capacity calculations for steel and cement production via data_steel.py and data_util.py. These changes improve long-horizon forecast accuracy, data lineage, and model maintainability, supporting stronger business decision support and strategic planning.
