During December 2024, Liming Gao developed SM3 hashing support for the acidanthera/audk repository, focusing on enhancing cryptographic capabilities within the UEFI environment. He implemented new GUID definitions and data structures in MdePkg to enable SM3 hashing and facilitate X.509 certificate support using the SM3 algorithm. Working primarily in C, Liming applied his expertise in cryptography, embedded systems, and UEFI to lay the foundation for future SM3-based security features. Although the work did not involve bug fixes, it addressed compliance requirements and provided a robust starting point for integrating SM3-driven security enhancements across the UEFI stack.
