During October 2025, Gemelen focused on improving build reliability and security for the apache/spark repository. Addressing dependency resolution failures in the build process, Gemelen upgraded the sbt-pom-reader plugin from version 2.4.0 to 2.5.0, enforcing HTTPS-only connections for dependency management. This change stabilized continuous integration builds and aligned the project with secure-by-default policies, reducing risk in automated deployments. Working primarily with Scala and leveraging expertise in build and dependency management using sbt, Gemelen’s contribution did not introduce user-facing changes but enhanced the underlying build infrastructure, demonstrating a thoughtful approach to secure and reliable software engineering practices.
