During November 2025, Greg Hamel enhanced the awslabs/mcp repository by developing an API feature that adds a 'description' field to the list_knowledge_bases_tool responses, enriching the metadata available for each knowledge base. Using Python and leveraging backend development and testing skills, Greg’s work improved data clarity and usability for downstream consumers and user interfaces. The implementation included cleaning up unnecessary log messages to streamline debugging and addressing pre-commit hook issues to strengthen CI reliability and code quality.
