Worked on the gitbutlerapp/gitbutler repository to enhance the terminal user experience for commit message displays. Developed a text truncation utility in Rust that ensures long commit messages are presented with an ellipsis, preventing awkward line wrapping and improving readability in terminal status outputs. Integrated this logic directly into the status pipeline, applying consistent formatting across related CLI commands. Addressed a display bug in the 'but status' command to maintain uniform ellipsis behavior, reducing the risk of misinterpreted logs. The work demonstrated skills in Rust programming, terminal UI development, and text processing, focusing on practical improvements to command-line usability.
