Developed Amazon OpenSearch Serverless support within the Elasticsearch sink for the vectordotdev/vector repository, focusing on seamless integration with AWS services. The work involved updating AWS request signing to include the x-amz-content-sha256 header, ensuring compatibility with serverless endpoints. To address the unique requirements of serverless deployments, health checks and API version auto-detection were disabled for this service type. The implementation was delivered as a single, targeted feature commit, demonstrating a focused approach to API integration and sink development. Rust was used throughout, leveraging expertise in both AWS and Elasticsearch to extend vector’s capabilities for modern serverless environments.
