During December 2025, Hegdeadithyak focused on enhancing observability and reliability within the garbage collection subsystem of the juicedata/juicefs repository. They developed and integrated debug logging for garbage collection, using Go to provide detailed traceability and facilitate faster root-cause analysis of GC-related issues. This work established foundational instrumentation for future metrics collection, supporting ongoing performance tuning and monitoring efforts. Although no bugs were closed during this period, the improvements in logging and documentation aligned the team for upcoming optimizations. Hegdeadithyak’s contributions demonstrated depth in backend development and observability, addressing maintainability and diagnostic needs in a complex distributed storage system.
