During April 2025, Hirnpfirsich enhanced SNMP monitoring for MikroTik devices in the prometheus/snmp_exporter repository by delivering a major MIB upgrade and wireless data improvements. They updated the MIB definition to support RouterOS 7.18.2, expanding SNMP OID coverage for wireless, optical, and Caps/CAP management. Using YAML and Makefile, Hirnpfirsich implemented lookups and overrides for wifiwave2 and wifi-qcom, enabling more accurate remote CAP identity resolution and interface name mapping. By filtering redundant data, they improved metric reliability and streamlined collection. This work demonstrated depth in configuration management and network monitoring, addressing both data quality and maintainability for SNMP observability.
