During February 2025, Henry Keyerleber focused on improving codebase hygiene in the frc2399/2025-season repository, specifically targeting the KrakenElevatorHardware module. He enhanced maintainability by thoroughly documenting the ELEVATOR_SENSOR_TO_MECHANISM_RATIO calculation and removing obsolete commented code, ensuring the code remained functionally unchanged. This work, using Java and applying software engineering best practices in embedded systems and robotics, aimed to reduce maintenance risk and streamline future onboarding. By prioritizing documentation-driven quality improvements, Henry clarified the intent and structure of the code, laying a foundation for easier refactoring and long-term sustainability without introducing new features or altering existing behavior.
