During March 2025, Hobbax focused on enhancing the packaging workflow for the TagStudio repository by enabling direct PyInstaller builds from source. Using Python and leveraging build system and packaging expertise, Hobbax updated the PyInstaller spec file to include relevant source directories and essential data files, removing the need for pre-installation of TagStudio. This approach streamlined the build process, improved reproducibility across local and CI environments, and reduced the deployment footprint by packaging only necessary resources. The work demonstrated a clear understanding of build automation and resource optimization, resulting in a more efficient and maintainable packaging pipeline for the project.
