Worked on the LabNConsulting/frr repository to address a routing issue involving IS-IS protocol and route-map interactions. Focused on stabilizing IS-IS redistribution by implementing an isis_redist_update mechanism in C, which ensures that redistributed routes are accurately updated when associated route-maps are modified, added, or deleted. Integrated hooks into the route-map module to automatically trigger redistribution updates, thereby improving routing correctness and reducing troubleshooting complexity in dynamic network environments. This work required a strong understanding of C programming, network routing, and route maps, and resulted in enhanced network stability by ensuring policy changes are consistently reflected in redistributed routes.
March 2025 monthly summary for LabNConsulting/frr: Focused on stabilizing IS-IS redistribution behavior by addressing a bug where redistributed routes did not reflect changes to the associated route-map. Delivered an isis_redist_update mechanism to re-evaluate and apply route-map changes to redistributed routes, with hooks added to the route-map module to trigger updates on route-map modifications (add/modify/delete). This improves routing correctness, reduces troubleshooting time, and enhances overall network stability in dynamic policy environments.
