During June 2025, Hugo developed NVMe disk driver support for the longhorn/longhorn-manager repository, enabling users to specify NVMe as a disk driver within node configurations. He implemented this feature using Go and YAML, updating API validation logic to recognize and safely handle the new nvme option. This work expanded Longhorn’s hardware compatibility and allowed for performance-oriented NVMe deployments in cloud native Kubernetes environments. By ensuring configuration safety and traceable, maintainable changes, Hugo addressed both user flexibility and operational reliability. The depth of the implementation reflects a strong understanding of storage systems and the requirements of scalable, production-grade infrastructure.
