Worked on enhancing API reliability and client compatibility in the ping1jing2/sglang repository by developing a centralized JSON response utility and improving the /generate endpoint’s serialization logic. Focused on handling non-finite values such as NaN and Infinity, the changes ensured consistent JSON serialization across the application, reducing edge-case failures and minimizing client-side errors. Utilized Python for backend development and incorporated unit testing to validate the new serialization approach. The work emphasized robust API development practices, addressing serialization challenges and standardizing response formats to streamline integration for clients relying on the API’s output, ultimately improving maintainability and reliability of the backend system.
