In March 2025, Imanol contributed to the chef/chef repository by developing a new cgroup attribute for the execute resource, enhancing process isolation and resource control in Linux environments. This feature allows users to specify cgroups when running commands, improving determinism and security for Chef runs. Imanol’s work involved modifying core resource and provider code, as well as updating metadata and dependencies in Gemfile.lock and chef.gemspec to ensure seamless integration. Leveraging skills in Chef, DevOps, and system administration with Ruby, Imanol delivered a focused, auditable change that lays the groundwork for future enhancements in infrastructure automation and resource management.
