Worked on the vllm-project/vllm-ascend repository to refactor KV Pool documentation and consolidate deployment scripts for A2 and A3 hardware. Focused on improving configuration management and scripting by unifying deployment templates, parameterizing them to reduce duplication, and updating installation processes to use pip. Addressed technical issues such as undefined NIC_NAME usage and ensured ASCEND_RT_VISIBLE_DEVICES aligned with parallel configuration requirements. Utilized Shell scripting and Markdown to clean configuration examples and enhance documentation clarity. These changes improved onboarding, reduced deployment errors, and increased cross-hardware scalability, all while maintaining compatibility with vLLM v0.20.2 and avoiding user-facing disruptions.
May 2026: Delivered KV Pool-related documentation refactor and deployment script consolidation under vllm-ascend. Key outputs include pip-based installation updates, cleaned configuration examples, and unified, parameterized deployment templates for A2 and A3 hardware. Targeted fixes were applied to address an undefined NIC_NAME and to align ASCEND_RT_VISIBLE_DEVICES with actual parallel configuration requirements. This work aligns with vLLM v0.20.2, reduces onboarding and deployment errors, and enhances cross-hardware scalability.
