During February 2026, RE-External@intersystems.com developed Hibernate InterSystems IRIS dialect support within the hibernate/hibernate-orm repository. This work introduced a new dialect that enables Hibernate ORM to interact seamlessly with InterSystems IRIS databases by supporting IRIS-specific SQL syntax, including identity columns, custom SQL functions, and tailored pagination. The implementation focused on maintainability and business value, ensuring that Hibernate applications can leverage IRIS database features without compatibility issues. Using Java, Hibernate, and SQL, the developer addressed integration challenges and expanded Hibernate’s database support.
