Ives developed a new inactivity timeout feature for the togethercomputer/openapi repository, enhancing endpoint lifecycle management. By designing and implementing the inactive_timeout parameter within the dedicated endpoint request schema in openapi.yaml, Ives enabled automatic shutdown of endpoints after a specified period of inactivity, with the option to disable the feature by setting the value to zero. This work involved careful API design and adherence to the OpenAPI Specification, ensuring the documentation accurately reflected the new behavior. The update improved resource utilization and reliability by reducing idle compute costs. The contribution demonstrated focused depth in YAML schema design and API documentation practices.
