Worked on security hardening for the zed-industries/gemini-cli repository, focusing on backend development using TypeScript. Addressed a critical bug by implementing robust task ID validation and path traversal protection for Google Cloud Storage interactions, ensuring that storage operations reject invalid task IDs and prevent unauthorized access. This solution was reinforced with targeted tests, improving both reliability and test coverage of the task management workflow. The approach emphasized security best practices and a test-driven methodology, resulting in cleaner commit history and enhanced data integrity. The work contributed to reducing exploitation risks and strengthening the overall security posture of the Gemini CLI project.
