During May 2025, contributed to the stjude/proteinpaint repository by enhancing the public-support-files-download.sh script, focusing on performance and robustness improvements for downloading genome and annotation files. Refactored the script to leverage curl’s parallel download capabilities, which increased efficiency in network operations and streamlined file management processes. Simplified directory creation and navigation logic, resulting in improved script readability and maintainability. The work demonstrated proficiency in shell scripting, with careful attention to error handling and code clarity. No bugs were reported or fixed during this period, and the primary deliverable was a single feature that added tangible business value through technical refinement.
