During February 2026, Badjorv developed native UTL language support with syntax highlighting for the zed-industries/extensions repository. This work introduced a dedicated UTL submodule, integrated directly into the extensions configuration using TOML, and established a modular pattern to streamline future language additions. Focusing on extension development and front end integration, Badjorv’s approach enabled native syntax recognition for UTL, improving code readability and accelerating onboarding for new languages within the extension framework. The implementation featured clear, traceable commits and prioritized maintainability, laying a scalable foundation for ongoing language support without addressing major bugs during this period of focused feature delivery.
