Developed enhanced metrics monitoring for the Astro bundle backend within the astronomer/ap-vendor repository, focusing on improved observability and actionable insights. Introduced a new metric mapping layer using YAML configuration to expose granular metrics—such as refresh frequency, tarball size, file count, and download/extract timing—via statsd-exporter. This approach enabled more precise performance monitoring and laid the groundwork for future dashboards and alerting tied to backend metrics. Leveraging skills in configuration management and monitoring, the work provided a foundation for proactive performance tuning and capacity planning, supporting faster mean time to recovery and more informed operational decision-making for backend systems.
