Worked on the mbta/api repository to deliver a targeted backend feature that enhances alert triage. Developed and integrated an UNKNOWN_CAUSE category within the alert causes enum-like structure, enabling the system to better classify and route alerts when the underlying cause is not identified. This Elixir-based update was implemented with a focused scope to minimize risk and support future analytics improvements. The work aligned with incident management and observability objectives, streamlining the investigation process for ambiguous alerts. Emphasized effective use of version control and code review practices to ensure a robust, maintainable addition to the existing backend alerting system.
