Worked on the nautobot/nautobot repository to deliver a targeted backend improvement addressing device model inheritance in configuration context queries. Focused on refining how ConfigContextQuerySet and ConfigContextModelQuerySet handle subclasses of the Device model, the work ensured that queries and annotations now accurately reflect inherited device structures. This fix improved data integrity for dashboards and automation workflows that depend on precise device information. The solution was implemented using Django and Python, with an emphasis on robust unit testing to validate changes. Collaboration was demonstrated through co-authored commits, contributing to maintainable code and clearer project documentation for future enhancements.
