Over a two-month period, contributed foundational backend architecture to zanfranceschi/rinha-de-backend-2025 by establishing an Elixir-based system with Bandit and Redis, optimizing performance through Unix Domain Sockets, connection pooling, and HAProxy load balancing. Designed the system for scalability and observability, enabling efficient future development and capacity planning. Later, developed an Elixir Dependency Hover and Autocompletion Extension for zed-industries/extensions, integrating Hex lens data to provide real-time dependency metadata within mix.exs files. This extension streamlined dependency management and improved onboarding for Elixir projects. Work demonstrated expertise in backend development, system architecture, extension development, and Elixir language tooling.
Month: 2026-05 Overview: Delivered a new Elixir Dependency Hover and Autocompletion Extension for the zed-industries/extensions repo, enabling hover details and autocompletion for dependencies declared in mix.exs. This tool enhances developer productivity by surfacing dependency metadata in-context and reducing manual lookups. Key deliverables: - Elixir Dependency Hover and Autocompletion Extension: Implemented a new extension that provides real-time hover details and autocompletion for dependencies listed in mix.exs, powered by the Elixir Hex lens data source. Commit: 521a076254c01c7c8bf5155933913c20d222b117 (Add elixir-hex-lens #5877). Note: No major bugs fixed this month as per current scope. Impact and value: - Technical: Streamlined dependency discovery and validation within mix.exs, reducing manual lookup time and potential version conflicts. - Business: Accelerated Elixir project onboarding and setup, improved consistency of dependencies across repos, and potential reductions in cycle time for dependency updates. Technologies/skills demonstrated: - Elixir language tooling and mix.exs parsing - Editor extension development patterns (hover information, autocompletion UX) - Integration with Hex data sources (elixir-hex-lens) - Strong commit traceability and repository alignment (zed-industries/extensions)
