During December 2024, JSG contributed to the PowerShell/openssh-portable repository by performing a comprehensive readability cleanup of the OpenSSH C source code. Focusing on code review and spelling correction, JSG identified and corrected typographical errors such as “communicattion,” “unneccessary,” and “recieved” across multiple C files. This upstream patch, committed with the message “upstream: spelling; ok djm@,” did not introduce functional changes but improved code maintainability and clarity for future reviews. By aligning the codebase with English language standards, JSG’s work reduced review friction and enhanced the overall readability of the project, demonstrating attention to detail in C development.
