In April 2025, Jordan Short developed a Commit Information Retrieval Tool for the github/github-mcp-server repository, enabling users to fetch detailed data about individual commits, including statistics and modified files. Leveraging Go for backend API development and comprehensive testing, Jordan enhanced the codebase by updating tests to utilize an existing endpoint mock, which improved both reliability and maintainability. The work included refining documentation and restructuring code to support future commit-level tooling, facilitating faster change-impact analysis and improved auditability. Although the project scope was focused, the implementation demonstrated depth in backend design and a thoughtful approach to long-term maintainability and extensibility.
