Worked on the libsdl-org/libavif repository to deliver a Tune IQ-based enhancement for layered progressive AVIF encoding, focusing on improving compression and reducing progressive file sizes. Applied C programming skills to implement inter-frame encoding optimization and adjusted the scaling of the first layer in progressive encoding, resulting in additional storage and network efficiency for AVIF assets. The approach involved integrating codec tuning strategies and leveraging image processing and video encoding expertise, particularly with libaom. No major bugs were addressed during this period, but the work demonstrated depth in optimizing encoding workflows and advancing progressive image delivery within the AVIF ecosystem.
