During January 2025, Katacek focused on enhancing data reliability and observability for the topmonks/hlidac-shopu repository by developing a sitemap-based workflow for Pilulka product data ingestion. Leveraging Node.js and JavaScript, Katacek replaced ad-hoc data requests with a region-aware process tailored for the Czech Republic, improving both accuracy and maintainability. The work included implementing detailed logging around sitemap loading to streamline debugging and applying locale-specific fixes to ensure correct Czech data extraction. Additionally, Katacek modernized the project’s tooling by upgrading Yarn, supporting future development. The contributions demonstrated thoughtful engineering depth in web scraping and robust data pipeline design.
