During May 2026, work focused on front end and theme development within the zed-industries/extensions repository, delivering a new Cobalt2x2 theme as a selectable visual option. The approach involved establishing a modular theme architecture, enabling seamless integration of additional themes and supporting rapid user experience customization. Configuration updates were implemented using Git and TOML, allowing users to switch themes without affecting core functionality. A dedicated submodule and theme preview asset were added to streamline review and quality assurance. This work enhanced branding and provided end users with flexible visual customization, laying groundwork for future extensibility and improved onboarding of new themes.
