Worked on stabilizing binary resolution and shim management for the jdx/mise repository, focusing on ensuring reliable command line interface behavior when shims are present on the system PATH. Addressed a long-standing reliability issue by preventing circular symlinks and eliminating false missing shim reports during reshims and doctor operations. Utilized Rust and Bash to implement a targeted fix that adopted a shim-agnostic binary resolution approach, avoiding self-referential symlinks. Developed and maintained comprehensive end-to-end and regression tests, including new scenarios for non-interactive shell activation. The work improved the robustness of CLI tooling and closed a critical gap in shim resolution reliability.
April 2026: Stabilized binary resolution and shim management for jdx/mise to ensure reliable CLI behavior when shims are on PATH. The change prevents circular mise symlinks and false missing shim reports in reshims and doctor, improves non-interactive shell activation, and closes a long-standing reliability gap in shim resolution.
