Kitae Toya developed core performance and backup features for ClickHouse and ClickBench, focusing on data resilience and realistic benchmarking. In ClickBench, Kitae introduced the Ursa benchmarking framework and later enhanced it to support real-data benchmarks, enabling more accurate performance analysis and reporting. For Altinity/ClickHouse, Kitae implemented a DatabaseBackup feature with read-only historical access, new storage types, and metadata-driven management, backed by integration tests and documentation. Using C++, Python, and SQL, Kitae also addressed a memory buffer initialization bug, improving test reliability. The work demonstrated depth in database optimization, automation, and robust engineering for production-grade data systems.
March 2025: Delivered consolidated benchmark results reporting and real-data benchmarking configuration for ClickBench, significantly improving the realism and relevance of performance metrics used for internal optimization and customer comparisons.

February 2025: Focused on performance enablement and data resilience through two major feature deliveries, complemented by targeted bug fixes and test improvements. Delivered Ursa benchmarking framework in ClickBench to establish a baseline for ClickHouse performance optimization, and implemented a robust DatabaseBackup feature in Altinity/ClickHouse with read-only access to historical data, new backup storage types, and metadata-driven management. A MemoryReadBuffer initialization bug affecting memory-backed reads was fixed to stabilize test paths. These efforts improve performance outreach, data safety, and CI reliability, enabling faster iterations and safer production rollouts.
