Developed Unicode string handling features for the tursodatabase/turso repository, focusing on enhancing internationalization and data safety in SQL environments. Implemented two scalar functions in Rust to process Unicode escape sequences and ensure proper quoting of Unicode strings within SQL queries. The approach emphasized robust Unicode handling and safe string representation, addressing the needs of multilingual datasets and improving data integrity. All changes were tracked with clear, auditable commits, providing historical context for future development. The work demonstrated proficiency in Rust, SQL, and database development, delivering targeted improvements to Unicode support and secure text processing in database pipelines.
