During March 2025, this developer focused on enhancing the core data extraction logic for the nextcloud/cookbook repository by addressing a critical issue in the internal Microdata parser. Using PHP and leveraging skills in HTML parsing and XPath, they corrected the parser’s handling of the itemscope attribute, which previously led to inaccurate recipe data extraction. The solution involved refining XPath selectors to explicitly include itemscope and constraining itemprop searches to direct children, thereby improving data quality and reliability for recipe exports and search indexing. This work stabilized the parsing infrastructure, reduced downstream data issues, and improved the maintainability of the codebase.
