Worked on the facebookresearch/faiss repository to enhance cross-platform build reliability for Python extensions, focusing on AIX compatibility. Addressed persistent build and import issues by updating CMakeLists.txt and setup.py, ensuring successful compilation and installation on AIX systems. Applied targeted fixes such as adjusting library suffixes and refining OS-specific assertions, which reduced platform-specific failures and aligned packaging behavior with Linux and Windows environments. Utilized expertise in CMake, Python, and build systems to resolve two longstanding bugs, broadening Faiss deployment capabilities and reducing support overhead. The work improved portability and enabled downstream analytics workloads on previously unsupported enterprise platforms.
