Worked on the Eventual-Inc/Daft repository to enhance the reliability and accuracy of write statistics during batch close operations. Addressed a metrics discrepancy by implementing logic in Rust to ensure that final write statistics, such as total_physical_bytes_written, are correctly calculated and recorded at the end of each batch. The solution involved updating delta calculations and invoking add_write_result to reflect actual writes, with changes localized to batch.rs and write.rs. Verification was performed through issue replication and logging, ensuring regression-proof improvements. Demonstrated backend development, data processing, and testing skills using Rust and Python to close metrics gaps and improve data pipeline integrity.
