During January 2025, Kwacky1 upgraded the Jenkins Linux VM runtime for the MicrosoftDocs/azure-dev-docs repository, replacing OpenJDK 11 with OpenJDK 17 to support newer Jenkins versions and Java-dependent features. This work involved careful planning of version-based upgrades and precise CI/CD configuration to ensure a seamless transition without regressions. Kwacky1 utilized Markdown for documentation and demonstrated expertise in Java runtime management, aligning the environment with the current Java ecosystem. The upgrade improved compatibility, enhanced security, and reduced maintenance overhead. Although the scope was focused, the work was well-executed and addressed a clear need for up-to-date runtime support in CI pipelines.
