During September 2025, Liam Sharkey enhanced the newrelic/helm-charts repository by developing new Helm chart features for the nr-k8s-otel-collector. He implemented support for custom volumes and volume mounts in both Deployment and DaemonSet resources, enabling integration with external secret management systems such as the Secrets Store CSI Driver. This work involved updating YAML templates and Helm values to expose flexible configuration options, as well as revising documentation to align with security and deployment best practices. Leveraging skills in DevOps, Kubernetes, and Helm, Liam delivered a focused, well-documented feature that improved secure deployment workflows without introducing any regressions.
