Worked on the Saghen/nixpkgs repository to enhance local development tooling by upgrading the Matomo package. Focused on build systems and package management, the work introduced a default local MySQL configuration, streamlining installation and onboarding for developers. Leveraging PHP and Shell, the developer improved security by replacing MD5 file integrity checks with SHA256, aligning with upstream standards and reducing tampering risks. Patch management was carefully handled to ensure changes remained isolated to Matomo, supporting reproducible builds and clear maintenance history. These updates reduced setup time for local development and improved the overall security and maintainability of the packaging process.
