Worked on the envoyproxy/envoy repository to improve API hygiene within the listener components by removing the unused OnDemandConfiguration field from the FilterChain proto definition. Focused on targeted schema cleanup using Protocol Buffers, the changes eliminated deprecated fields, reducing the risk of referencing outdated documentation and minimizing potential misconfigurations across downstream services. This approach aligned the API surface with current usage, lowering maintenance overhead and supporting clearer onboarding for new developers. The work emphasized precise, low-risk modifications in API design, ensuring that the codebase remains maintainable and that documentation accurately reflects the current state of the system’s protobuf schemas.
