Worked on the trinodb/trino repository to deliver a feature-level improvement focused on optimizing nested namespace listings, particularly for Iceberg REST namespaces. Refactored the backend code to reuse the existing SessionContext, which reduced redundant session creation and streamlined session management. This approach lowered latency for nested namespace queries and improved scalability by minimizing session-handling overhead. The work emphasized maintainability and testability, resulting in cleaner and more efficient code paths. Utilized Java and REST APIs to implement these changes, demonstrating backend development expertise and a strong focus on resource efficiency and code quality throughout the development process during the month.
