2025-01 Monthly Summary for developer work focusing on feature delivery and release hygiene in the rdkcentral/application-manifest-rdke repository. The primary objective this month was to align the application layer with MediaWave (MW) release 2.4.0 and ensure proper tagging for traceability. No major bug fixes were recorded this period; the effort was dedicated to integration, release readiness, and documentation.

December 2024: Delivered two high-impact changes in rdkcentral/meta-application-rdke-dev that enhance startup reliability, UI visibility, and maintenance simplicity, driving improved platform consistency and reduced postinstall issues. Implemented a temporary RDK Shell Plugin Auto-Activation Systemd Service to activate the rdkshell plugin and ensure the RDK UI initializes before the resident app starts, addressing UI visibility on select platforms. This work includes new service unit and configuration, and is tracked under RDKVREFPLT-4241 (commit b5fa3edeb3a00340da5460538be48c069231843f). Second, consolidated lib32-rdkresidentapp postinstall dependencies into the main residentapp.service, removing the need for an external config file and addressing postinstall scriptlet failures, tracked under RDKVREFPLT-4215 (commit 12603f932d63e8067230fcd7ff71f45912325645).
