During December 2024, Leo Jie enhanced performance monitoring in both the apache/hbase and HubSpot/hbase repositories by introducing a new filesystem read time metric to the slow log payload. He implemented backend changes in Java and JSP to log and persist this fsreadtime data in the hbase:slowlog table, enabling more granular diagnostics of slow operations. Leo also updated the region server operation details UI to display the new metric, supporting faster troubleshooting and consistent observability across both codebases. His work focused on backend development, data logging, and performance monitoring, delivering two features that improved operational insight without introducing any regressions.
